The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS), Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) at American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a seminar titled “Digital Transformation in Business” on 12th August 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, Level 10, D Building, from 11:40 AM to 12:40 PM. The seminar was coordinated by Mr. Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, Head of the Department of MIS, along with Khandakar Tahurul Islam and Fatema Tuz Zahra, Lecturers of MIS. The session opened with remarks from Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor of AIUB, and closed with a vote of thanks delivered by Professor Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Director of the MBA Program. Faculty members Nusrat Nowreen Srabonty, Mohammad Ali, Farzan Mitu, Mustafa Hasan, and Nazia Farhana were also present, while over 150 students from various BBA majors attended the session in enthusiastic numbers.
The seminar featured Shadab Mahmud, Associate Director of PwC Bangladesh, as the resource person. Drawing on his consulting experience at one of the world’s leading professional services firms, he delivered an engaging and highly interactive presentation, frequently posing questions to the audience and recording their responses on the whiteboard for shared references. His talk moved through the transformation of education, the meaning of digital transformation, and why so many transformation efforts fail, illustrated with real failure stories and statistics on digital transformation initiatives from around the world. He closed the session with the idea of the “butterfly moment,” framing digital transformation not as a single technology upgrade but as a complete metamorphosis of how an organization operates and creates value.
The seminar offered students a valuable opportunity to connect their academic understanding of business and information systems with the realities of digital transformation as it is practiced in industry, reinforcing the central message of the session: that transformation succeeds only when organizations are willing to change fundamentally rather than incrementally.
